Adult Mission Trip
This fall, Community
will be sending a team of adult volunteers to the
Gulf
Coast
for the Katrina recovery or we may form a team to help with the recovery
from this past fall and winter tornados in
Tennessee
and other areas of the eastern United States. If you are interested in going please contact Paul Steele at
psteele4@cox.net.
Summer is not here yet and we are already planning and organizing
an adult “hands on” mission trip. It takes several months to contact
places where we can use our resources, places that are sanction by the
United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM), and to raise the financial
support needed to sustain a mission trip.
Appalachia
Service Project
“Making Homes Warmer, Safer and Drier.
Transforming Lives” is what the Appalachia Service Project (www.asphome.org)
is all about. Community UMC will be traveling to
Magoffin County
,
Kentucky
on June 28 – July 5 and again on July 19 – 26. These youth and their
adult leaders will embark on a “hands on” ministry as they interact
with the families and learn how to use tools to make homes warmer, safer
and drier. Relationships are
build: relationships with the other youth and adults on their team,
relationships with those on teams from others churches or organizations,
relationships with the families. Relationships are build and life skills
transform lives.
Please keep our ASP teams
in your prayer and please financially support this hands on mission
opportunity. If you write a check please put in the memo line, “ASP
donation”. Thank you for your support.

CUMC Brazil Mission Team
A mission team of adults and youth will participate in Brazil’s “Shade & Fresh Water Project”.
July 10 -22, 2008 our team will be in the city of Bela Horizonte, Brazil.
They will be ministering to the street children of the city.
CUMC’s puppets are excited too! They will be traveling with us to share the Gospel message in Portuguese, the language of Brazil. How
can that be? God has connected one of our team members with a local Brazilian
national who is willing to translate the several Bible messages the puppets will do
for the children participating in Brazil’s “Shade & Fresh Water Project”.
As your CUMC Brazil Mission Team prepares by learning about the culture, currency, geography, history, customs, and social fabric of Brazil, we seek
your prayers and thank you for your support.

for the Children of Brazil
Our
pocket change can mean the difference between children living in a safe
environment surrounded by loving, dedicated individuals, or living on the
streets where crime, drugs and prostitution await. Be the difference by
dropping your change in the large plastic containers in the narthex.
The BRAZIL MISSION TEAM thanks you for your continued support of
this ministry.

Susanna's Clothes Closet
Our children’s clothing closet, needs gently used winter coats, summer
clothing, and new underwear for boys and girls through size 14. We
are now partnering with
St. Paul’s UMC and the Iron Gate Charge UMC, and want to be able to offer
clothing for all our congregations. Please place your donations in the
large bin in Susanna’s Closet located next to the resource room. The
closet will be open Sunday mornings to receive your items. Thank you for
your help.
Food
Pantry
The
Food Pantry Ministry on Monday mornings at
St. Paul
's UMC provides food and clothing for those in need as well as an
opportunity to pray with and for these folks. If you have a Monday morning
free, consider joining us in the ministry. We need two folks to drive to
pick up the food (1 hr.), and 2 to be hosts of the Food Pantry and serve
the guests (2 hrs.) or one team for 3 hours. The sign up sheet is on the
bulletin board near the restrooms. Contact the church office
with questions or if you have any adult clothing to contribute for
their clothes closet.
